There is a “youth emergency” in Trinidad and Tobago, where young people lack opportunities and are being drawn into gang culture, says Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
The former Prime Minister has vowed to address this issue within the first 120 days in office. She outlined a plan, assuring that under a United National Congress (UNC) government, young people will not be left behind.
Speaking at a campaign event at Vickar’s car park in the battleground constituency of Moruga/Tableland last night, Persad-Bissessar noted that when a young man turns to criminality as a “job,” it is not just a crime problem but “a crisis of opportunity and dignity.”
