For Tevin Robinson and Chevaun Gray, love didnât arrive with fanfare; it began in worship. The pair met on November 16, 2024, at Purpose Released, Â a worship experience in St Ann hosted by one of Tevinâs close friends. Tevin had heard about Chevaun before that day, but nothing prepared him for meeting her in person.Curious, Tevin had seen Chevaunâs Instagram before they met, but said no image could quite capture her in real life. When they were introduced during worship, Chevaun gently redirected him, reminding him it was time to worship. That moment stayed with him. After the event, what was meant to be a brief exchange turned into hours of conversation at the altar long after everyone else had left. They spoke about God, ministry, relationships, and what they hoped to find in a future partner. From that day, they havenât gone a day without speaking.Despite living in different cities â Tevin in Kingston and Chevaun in Montego Bay â they maintained daily contact. The distance required sacrifice, but they made it work, often speaking while Chevaun moved between appointments as part of her demanding career. When possible, Tevin travelled to Montego Bay, sometimes taking the Knutsford Express to spend a few hours with her before returning home the same day.âFrom the moment we met, it felt as if we were already dating,â Tevin shared with Island Wedding. And, in the first conversation, the two made an unusual but heartfelt declaration to each other.âIf you are my husband, I welcome you with open arms,â Chevaun told him. Tevin responded with the same conviction. The relationship quickly became intentional, and on December 24, 2024, the pair made things official. The next day, Tevin had Christmas dinner with Chevaunâs family.âIt was very important to me that he decided to take that time out â to be selfless â and to be a part of what I had going on,â Chevaun explained. She added, âItâs the first time in my life Iâve been able to introduce someone to my family.âSharing what she loves the most about Tevin, Chevaun says he is, âsomeone who puts himself on the line for others and wants to ensure that everyone is comfortable and okayâ.A defining moment came when Chevaun slipped while getting out of her car and badly injured her foot. In pain that evening, she told Tevin what had happened. The next day, she was surprised to see a figure at her door. It was Tevin.âThat man washed, that man cooked, that man cleaned. He did everything for me,â she said. âAnd he went back home [on] Sunday because he had work [on] Monday. I was just so honoured. It was very sacrificial. And I really love that about him.âFor Tevin, it simply felt like the right thing to do when he heard the news.âI took a bus the next morning because I knew it was my duty to make sure that she was protected.âSpiritually, Tevin already believed everything was happening according to Godâs plan. When his mother shared how much she loved Chevaun, it gave him even greater confidence that he had found the right person. For Chevaun, she knew immediately too. âI loved him the very first time I met him,â she shared. âIt just felt right.âWILL YOU MARRY ME?The proposal came on September 22, 2025, and although surrounded by people he trusted, Tevin admitted that he was overwhelmed with nerves. Thankfully, every detail came together exactly as planned.Chevaun laughed when asked about the proposal. Not because it was funny, but because surprising her is no small feat.âI was surprised because he cannot surprise me,â she said. âSo he did really well.âShe had just wrapped a business meeting in Kingston when he suggested they head to Hope Botanical Gardens in St Andrew for a âphoto shootâ. She dressed up, showed up, and thought nothing of it.Then the photographer suggested a blindfold, describing it as a âpre-birthday surpriseâ. Chevaun was sceptical but went along with it, walking blindfolded until she was told to stop.âWhen they removed it, I was shocked,â she recalled, before happily accepting. On April 16, the couple exchanged vows during an intimate ceremony at Holiday Haven Resort in Runaway Bay, St Ann, officiated by Reverend Cornell Shaw. They sang during the ceremony, reflecting the ministry they now share as husband and wife. Without a formal rehearsal, they flowed into worship with ease.Adding that their impromptu worship experience was one of the highlights of her day, Chevaun explained that âIt was no longer really and truly about us; it just became a whole worship moment.âShe also loved Tevinâs vows, as he reminded her of the night they met. âHe said that if he could do it all over again, he would do it all over again and he would choose me all over again,â she said.Looking back on their journey, Tevin believes the greatest blessing has been finding someone who sees him completely.âSheâs supportive and caring ... she has a presence that is so captivating. ... Sheâs an extraordinary person,â he said of his bride. The couple continued their wedding celebrations with a honeymoon in Peru.ruth-ann.briscoe@gleanerjm.com
