PRIME Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar made the greatest political comeback when she won the general election, and come August 17, she is likely to defeat any challengers for the United National Congress (UNC) leadership, says political analyst Dr Hamid Ghany.

The UNC stated on Monday that the party’s executive has decided that the political leadership election will be held on August 17, with nomination day carded for July 27.

Ghany told the Express that Persad-Bissessar has a track record of trouncing her opponents in the party’s internal elections, and he believes she will continue to ride that wave of victory next month.
