A Pinto family narrowly escaped tragedy on January 21 after a young child accidentally started a fire that completely destroyed their home.
Around 4:45 p.m., the 43-year-old homeowner was alerted by her 21-year-old daughter that flames had broken out in their Trainline, Pinto Road, residence. The daughter reported that her four-year-old son had been playing with fire in the living room, causing a couch to ignite. The flames spread to the wooden partitions, engulfing the house.
The family, including the two young children, ran to safety. Fortunately, no human injuries were reported. However, a Nissan AD wagon parked on the property was destroyed, and a Pompek dog and songbird perished in the blaze. The full value of damages is still being assessed.
