Portmore United returned to the pinnacle of club football in Jamaica on Sunday, beating defending champions Cavalier 5-3 on penalties after they played out a pulsating 2-2 draw in regulation and extra time in the final played at the National Stadium.
It was their eighth title, including two won as Hazard United in the 1990s, but first since 2019. The feat denied Cavalier a third straight title and fifth overall.
Goalkeeper Daniel Russell’s save in the fourth round of the shootout was the decider, denying Terence Williams.
