THE Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) officially rolled out its new LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) speed enforcement devices yesterday, warning motorists that speeding violations would now be detected with greater accuracy, at longer distances and even from inside parked police vehicles.
The launch of the TTPS Enforcement Visibility Initiative-Rollout of the New Speed Enforcement Devices took place at the Audrey Jeffers Highway Layby, Foreshore in Mucurapo.
The 20 upgraded devices were capable of capturing high-resolution images of vehicles and registration plates, operating during both day and night, and instantly producing evidence for use in traffic enforcement proceedings.
