Two women, including one who allegedly tried to smuggle contraband hidden inside apples into the Port of Spain Prison, were among four people placed under preventive detention orders published on Wednesday.
The orders, issued under Regulation 14 of the Emergency Powers Regulations, 2026, were signed by Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander on April 26 and August 13 and published on September 2.
Shuzelle Kirton, also known as Shuzelle Amanda Thelma P Kirton, of Enterprise, Chaguanas, was detained after she was linked to an organised criminal group involved in the trafficking and attempted introduction of drugs and other prohibited articles into the prison system.
