Days afÂter his reÂlease from deÂtenÂtion unÂder the State of EmerÂgency (SoE), 43-year-old ShumÂba James, a man laÂbelled by poÂlice as a noÂtoÂriÂous gangÂster, was killed in an alÂleged shootout with ofÂfiÂcers in his homeÂtown of St Mary’s VilÂlage, MoruÂga, yesÂterÂday. His friend, 34-year-old Visham Ryan Lochan, was alÂso killed in the inÂciÂdent.
AcÂcordÂing to poÂlice reÂports, James was seatÂed in the front pasÂsenÂger seat of Lochan’s NisÂsan TiÂiÂda travÂelÂling along MoruÂga Road when the inÂciÂdent hapÂpened. South/CenÂtral ACP Wayne MysÂtar said someÂtime afÂter 10 am, there was a shootout with the poÂlice which reÂsultÂed in both men beÂing faÂtalÂly woundÂed.
