OUTGOING president of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) Justice Adrian Saunders says he has no doubt that “when the time is right”, Trinidad and Tobago will withdraw from the Privy Council and make the CCJ its final Court of Appeal.
As far as he is concerned, it is unsustainable on many levels for any Caribbean country to maintain the Privy Council as its final appellate court.
Firstly, there are many people who do not have the financial capabilities to bear the costs associated with having their final appeal heard before the British court.
