The Government has officially gazetted legal notices doubling several customs fees, which Finance Minister Davendranath Tancoo had previously announced in the national budget as a measure to raise an additional $1 billion in revenue.
The increased fees are scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2026.
Legal Notice No 472, gazetted on December 25, increased Customs Declaration transaction user fees from $40 to $80.
