As police-involved kil­lings continue to rise this year, Acting Commission­er Junior Benjamin maintains that these fatal incidents are the result of decisive and aggressive policing, and not excessive force.

The statement was made against the backdrop of 37 police-involved deaths for the year so far, involving officers on and off duty.

That number came from 29 shooting incidents.
