A HIGH Court judge has awarded damages to a veteran tutor and businessman in a defamation lawsuit against two doctors, ruling that the pair published and circulated unfounded accusations on social media that seriously damaged his reputation.
The judgment, delivered by Justice Ricky Rahim on May 20, concluded that Tarini Bhagwansingh defamed Colin Chin-Aleong by reposting on his Instagram and Facebook accounts a series of statements originally published by Gia Leid between October 4 and 7, 2021.
The posts accused Chin-Aleong, operator of the long-running tutoring institution Colin's Lessons, Westmoorings, of paedophilia, sexual harassment, and grooming of minors.
