United States President Donald Trump has nominated Trinidad-born Jennifer Johnson-Carroll as the next US ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago.
Former US ambassador Candace Bond officially left her post on January 20, 2025, and no appointment was made since the new Trump administration came into office.
The White House issued a statement dated June 1, 2026, naming several nominees, including Johnson-Carroll of Florida, to serve as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
