Dr. Dorothy Williams-Chandler, a respected medical professional in her 70s, has died three weeks after being shot multiple times during a violent attempted carjacking on August 30.
She succumbed to her injuries at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, where she had been in critical condition since the early morning attack. According to her colleague, Dr. Sherene Kalloo, Williams-Chandler had been in urgent need of A-positive blood during her treatment.
The incident occurred around 12:11 a.m. as Dr. Williams-Chandler and her husband were returning home to Daniel Drive, off Mendez Drive in Champs Fleurs. Two gunmen in a Nissan AD wagon ambushed their SUV, blocking their path. They approached the driver's side and opened fire, striking Williams-Chandler six times , five shots to her abdomen and one to the head.
