Four hikers were rescued early Friday after losing their way during an evening trek to Edith Falls in Chaguaramas, triggering an all-night search by emergency personnel.
The hikers—Nicolette Elahi, 27; Fabian Tixera, 30; Makeel Edwards, 18; and Sana Benali, 22—were reported missing around 6:48 p.m. Thursday after failing to return from their hike. According to police, the group encountered difficulties navigating the trail after nightfall and challenging terrain impeded their return.
Officers at the Carenage Police Station were alerted by the Command Centre, and PC Thomas contacted Captain Vallence Rambharat of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team. Rambharat’s team, already en route, used GPS data from Elahi’s mobile phone to aid the search.
