WITH the Government moving ahead with policy changes concerning firearms ownership and use, and stand-your-ground consultations expected to begin next week, some stakeholders have reached out to Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander, with suggestions for immediate improvements, including digitalising the process, creating tiers for firearm users, and even creating a board to approve the Firearms Users Licences (FULs).
Speaking with the Express yesterday, Alexander said he had received a formal letter and memorandum from a stakeholder, grouping of firearm dealers and range operators outlining recommendations to amend the firearms application process and related matters.
“This is in keeping with the various changes and policies the Government has proposed and promised,” the minister said.
