Firearms dealers and range operators are calling for urgent reform to Trinidad and Tobago’s firearm licensing system, saying years of delays, outdated procedures, and lack of transparency are putting public safety at risk.
The group, which plans to officially register as the Trinidad and Tobago Firearms Dealers and Range Operators Association, has submitted a detailed reform proposal to the government.
The group met with Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander on July 16, to present their recommendation paper which outlines a ten-step, technology-driven process aimed at fixing what they describe as a “broken and biased” system.
