A female getaway driver and her male accomplice were killed early Friday after they allegedly attempted to rob a licensed firearm holder in Santa Cruz.
Police said the incident occurred just after 5 a.m. along La Pastora Road, near Bienvenue Avenue. The woman, who was behind the wheel, died at the scene. Her accomplice, who was shot during the confrontation, was taken to hospital where he later died.
Investigators said the intended victim, who is a holder of a Firearm User’s Licence (FUL), was targeted during the robbery attempt and opened fire on the suspects.
