Fire destroyed a businessplace in Longdenville, Chaguanas, and forced an evacuation of nearby homes on Thursday.

Mitsuda Limited, a superstore along Longdenville Old Road was destroyed when fire broke out shortly before noon.

Residents said there was an explosion, followed by raging flames and a blanket of thick, black smoke.
