The Government will commence a series of public consultations on the development of model villages, engaging residents in several communities in Regions Two, Three, Four, Five, and Six beginning on Monday, August 3, 2026.
The consultations are intended to provide residents with an opportunity to share their views, learn more about the Model Villages initiative, and participate in discussions on the proposed developments within their communities and will provide opportunities for direct engagement with President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali.
The first round of consultations will be held in Region Three on Monday, August 3, beginning at 09:00h at the Leonora Secondary School. Meetings will continue throughout the day in Zeelugt, Tuschen, Goed Fortuin, Parfaite Harmonie, and Pouderoyen, culminating with a presentation on the proposed new Pouderoyen Market at 18:30h. Consultations will then move to Region Four (East Bank Demerara) on Thursday, August 6, with engagements scheduled for Kaneville, Grove and Diamond.
