Govt. rescues children from severe abuse in Berbice

(Kaieteur News) – The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security reportedly rescued several children on Friday after they were found in circumstances of severe abuse and mistreatment in Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).
In a press statement, the Ministry said the children are now under the protection of the Childcare and Protection Agency (C&PA). “Following information received today (Friday) from a public-spirited citizen, the Agency intervened immediately,” the Ministry stated.
The children were taken to a hospital for medical assessments before being placed in state care.
