A 22-year-old Morvant man was ambushed and shot dead while seated in a parked SUV off Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook, on Sunday night, sending several people who were buying food fleeing for safety.

Police said that around 8.50 p.m., Jalani George of Hirondelle Street, Morvant, was seated in a Hyundai Creta parked outside the Proper Ting Grill Hub, located off Ariapita Avenue between Fitt and Murray Streets, when a car stopped nearby.

Two men armed with guns exited the vehicle and opened fire on the Hyundai, striking George multiple times in the chest and stomach.
