A 28-year-old Diego Martin man was shot dead on Wednesday night after gunmen ambushed his vehicle in Lower Santa Cruz.

Dead is Hakeem Baker, also known as “Peng”, of Northwest Drive, Patna Village, Diego Martin. Police said Baker, a labourer, was attacked around 8:30 p.m. as he was leaving the Sun Valley Extension area off La Canoa Road.

According to reports, an unknown number of armed men opened fire on Baker’s silver Nissan B14. In an attempt to escape, he drove off the roadway and into a ditch. The assailants reportedly pursued the vehicle and continued shooting.
