(Kaieteur News) – Five Chinese nationals aged 31, 34, 50, 53, and 59, have been arrested and charged in connection with immigration offences, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) confirmed in a statement on Tuesday.

According to police, the men were initially arrested on June 16, 2026, at the Rock Creek Mining Area in Puruni, Region Seven, during an enforcement operation targeting illegal mining activity. A subsequent check of their travel documents revealed that all five had overstayed the period permitted under their visas.

The men are scheduled to appear in court.
