Financial pressures among ranks of the Guyana Fire Service are being examined as a potential workforce-readiness issue, with Outliers Zone Caribbean calling for a structured assessment to determine whether financial stress is affecting fatigue, attendance and job performance.
The organisation held discussions on August 27 with senior Guyana Fire Service officials, including Acting Deputy Chief Fire Officer Haimchandra Persaud and Acting Senior Welfare Officer/Social Worker Simonica Cooper, at the Fire Service Boardroom.
The meeting focused on the financial pressures facing firefighters and the possible impact of those pressures on operational readiness.
