As the first cohort of 95 Special Reserve Police (SRP) officers trained under the School-Oriented Policing Course graduated on Friday, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration and Operational Support, Natasha George told the graduands they were pioneers and they were being entrusted with the country’s most valuable resource—its children.
The graduation ceremony was held Friday at the Police Academy, St James.
On Friday, Education Minister Dr Michael Dowlath said when school reopens tomorrow there will be police officers with guns at some high-risk schools. Dowlath said this measure would be temporary and would be monitored as the intervention is rolled out.
