COMMISSIONER of Police Allister Guevarro read the riot act against violence in schools on the first day of the new school term yesterday which saw police officers stationed at schools.
Asked whether officers were armed, Guevarro said: “I would not get into what each officer has in terms of the arms or whether they are unarmed. It is all based on assessments that were done, that dictate what the officers would be required to utilise. I cannot advertise what is on this officer or that officer. We will leave that alone.”
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) launched the School Oriented Policing Initiative and introduced heightened security measures in 50 schools nationwide yesterday with the deployment of police officers.
