KINGSTON, Jamaica — Reducing crime helps to create safer communities and provides residents with greater freedom to pursue education, employment and other opportunities, according to Commanding Officer for the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) St Catherine North Division, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hopton Nicholson.

He noted that the benefits of crime reduction extend beyond a decline in reported incidents, emphasising that safer communities are better positioned to support development, protect property and enhance residents’ quality of life.

SSP Nicholson was speaking at the launch of the St John’s Heights Neighbourhood Watch in St Catherine on Sunday.
