Peter Tardieu, whose love affair, marriage, and life with his beloved Molly were immortalised in the book The Village of One, died on Thursday, at the age of 94.
Tardieu, who had been ailing for the past year, suffered a stroke last Tuesday and passed away in hospital.
While the village mourned the loss of a man celebrated for his tireless work in the mountain fields of Paramin, there were two women grieved most deeply: his twin sister Nita, with whom he remained close throughout his life, and Molly, his devoted wife of more than six decades, who cared for him until the very end.
