Amid rising Caribbean tensions and backlash over the US’ military boat-strikes that have killed at least 27 in the Caribbean Sea, the US Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago this morning issued a warning to citizens residing in the country to avoid visiting its government facilities throughout the holiday weekend.
The Embassy posted an advisory to its website and social media pages minutes ago, citing a heightened state of alert and telling its citizens to be aware of their surroundings.
“Avoid all US government facilities in Trinidad and Tobago. Be aware of your surroundings. Monitor reputable news outlets. US Citizens seeking travel to the United States must have a valid U.S. passport. Report any suspicious activity to local authorities,” the warning read.
