Four years afĀter beĀing charged with misĀbeĀhavĀiour in pubĀlic ofĀfice, forĀmer head of the now-disĀbandĀed SpeĀcial OpĀerĀaĀtions ReĀsponse Team (SORT), InĀsp Mark HerĀnanĀdez, has been cleared of any wrongĀdoĀing.
DeĀspite the disĀmissal of the charge, HerĀnanĀdez beĀlieves corĀrupt elĀeĀments in auĀthorĀiĀty were beĀhind the case against him.
He was charged in 2021, months afĀter two susĀpectsāAnĀdrew āSoĀloā MorĀris and Joel BelĀconādied in poĀlice cusĀtody. Both men were deĀtained in conĀnecĀtion with the JanĀuĀary 2021 kidĀnapĀping and murĀder of AriĀma court clerk AnĀdrea Bharatt.
