(Kaieteur News) – His Majesty King Charles III arrived in Guyana on Thursday afternoon for a historic two-day State Visit, marking 60 years of diplomatic relations between Guyana and the United Kingdom and his first visit to the country as monarch.
The King touched down at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport aboard an Airbus KC-2 Voyager aircraft on October 29, 2026, where he was welcomed by President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, senior government officials, military leaders and other dignitaries. His arrival marked his return to Guyana after 26 years, having last visited the country as Prince of Wales.
British High Commissioner to Guyana, Joseph Fisher MBE, underscored the significance of the visit, describing it as an important moment for the modern and evolving UK-Guyana partnership. He highlighted the enduring ties between the two peoples and the opportunities for members of the public to meet and engage with the King during several public events.
