MINISTER of Homeland Security Roger Alexander has launched an investigation into the report of a “disturbing immigration encounter” by a reportedly deaf US visitor at Piarco International Airport last week.
Alexander, a release from the ministry stated, permanent secretary Videsh Maharaj, and Deputy Chief Immigration Officer Alicia Acre-Youksee engaged the visitor, Shontice McKenzie, during a virtual meeting yesterday.
During the meeting, McKenzie was given the opportunity to retell the incident and share her concerns about the treatment she received while seeking assistance for her disability.
