" It is with deep disÂapÂpointÂment that I anÂnounce I will not parÂticÂiÂpate in the UNCâs screenÂing process for re-elecÂtion as the MemÂber of ParÂliaÂment for CuÂmuÂto/ ManÂzanilÂla. AfÂter careÂful reÂflecÂtion, I can no longer align myÂself with a parÂty that has abanÂdoned its prinÂciÂples, reÂwards mediÂocÂrity, shields those acÂcused of wrongÂdoÂing and punÂishÂes inÂtegriÂty.
I refuse to subÂmit myÂself to a screenÂing comÂmitÂtee that inÂcludes inÂdiÂvidÂuÂals curÂrentÂly charged with wrongÂdoÂing, emÂbroiled in court casÂes inÂvolvÂing misÂmanÂageÂment of pubÂlic funds at the EMÂBD, alÂlegedÂly linked to gang acÂtivÂiÂty and even one inÂdiÂvidÂual who has seÂriÂous alÂleÂgaÂtions of huÂman trafÂfickÂing to anÂswer," he said in a stateÂment.
