(Kaieteur News) – Pan Africanist, industrialist, author, scientist, entrepreneur and educator, William “Tom” Dalgety died on Saturday.

The prominent Guyanese, who made significant multi-disciplinary contributions to Guyana’s cultural, scientific, and industrial landscapes was 86.

He founded an industrial business on Bent Street Georgetown, known for manufacturing construction essentials like wood putty and “Aquatight” waterproofing sealant. He later expanded his entrepreneurial footprint into the food industry, acquiring agricultural leases to advance local agro-processing and employment. He also served as a science lecturer at the Government Technical Institute (GTI) in Guyana, mentoring students in chemistry and geology.
