Organisations, supporters and party members gathered Thursday at the Mausoleum in the Botanical Gardens to mark the 41st anniversary of the death of Linden Forbes Sampson Burnham (February 20, 1923 – August 6, 1985), as the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) paid tribute to its founder leader through a statement issued to commemorate the occasion.

Burnham, founder leader of the People’s National Congress, remains one of the most influential and polarizing figures in Guyana’s history. In the statement, the PNCR said it joined Guyanese at home and in the diaspora “in solemn remembrance” of a leader it credits with shaping the modern state.

“Forty-one years after his death, the vision, leadership, patriotism, and enduring contributions of Forbes Burnham continue to shape the foundations of the modern Guyanese State,” the party stated.
