A GROUP of workers attached to the Registrar General's Department (RGD) in Tobago are calling on Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Minister of Legal Affairs Saddam Hosein and the Tobago House of Assembly to intervene in addressing long-standing issues affecting them. Ongoing workplace concerns have resulted in transfers and resignations.
Workers via e-mail correspondence to the Express last week cited several workplace concerns including allegations of staff demoralisation, targeted and confrontational communications, and alleged instances of public humiliation without reasonable cause. The workers stated that, despite repeated efforts to address these concerns internally, including writing to the Director of Human Resources, permanent secretary, Minster of Land and Legal Affairs and the Registrar General, no effective remedial action
has been taken. They reported that the work environment has therefore become increasingly strained and demoralising, adversely impacting staff morale, productivity, and the efficient functioning of the office.
