NEWLY-elected Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers’ Association’s (TTUTA) president Crystal Bevin Ashe says he will be seeking to renegotiate the 4% wage increase for teachers.
During a phone interview yesterday, Ashe said he will approach the Government to renegotiate the 4% wage increase for two collective bargaining periods—2014 to 2017, and 2017 to 2020—which was agreed to by former TTUTA head Martin Lum Kin on May 17, 2023.
He was asked how that would be possible, given that TTUTA had already agreed to the 4% and even received backpay for that period in December 2023.
