Medz Boss threatens legal action against Al-Rawi over PoS peace deal claims

Trini­bad artiste Joseph “Medz Boss” Oliviere has threat­ened le­gal ac­tion against Op­po­si­tion Sen­a­tor and at­tor­ney Faris Al-Rawi, ac­cus­ing him of mak­ing “defam­a­to­ry and ma­li­cious­ly false” state­ments link­ing him to or­gan­ised crime and sug­gest­ing his re­lease from pre­ven­tive de­ten­tion re­sult­ed from an im­prop­er po­lit­i­cal arrange­ment.

In an 18-page pre-ac­tion pro­to­col let­ter dat­ed Sep­tem­ber 14, at­tor­neys at Quan­tum Le­gal de­mand­ed that Al-Rawi pub­licly re­tract the state­ments, is­sue an un­qual­i­fied apol­o­gy and pro­vide a writ­ten un­der­tak­ing that he will not re­peat the al­le­ga­tions un­less he can es­tab­lish a prop­er fac­tu­al ba­sis for them.

Al-Rawi has been giv­en un­til 3.30 pm on Fri­day (Sep­tem­ber 18) to re­spond. Fail­ing this, the at­tor­neys warned that le­gal pro­ceed­ings will be ini­ti­at­ed “with­out de­lay or fur­ther no­tice.”
