KINGSTON, Jamaica — World Championships finalists Ackelia Smith and Lamara Distin retained their respective long jump and high jump titles on Thursday’s opening day of the JAAA national championships at the National Stadium.
Smith jumped a wind-aided 6.81m (2.8m/s) to win her third straight and fourth long jump title overall, just edging Nia Robinson, who improved her outdoors best to 6.80m (0.8m/s), with Rohana Sudlow of Kansas State taking third with 6.25m (0.9m/s).
Distin won her fifth high jump title with 1.86m, beating Annishka McDonald of West Virginia, who jumped 1.80m.
