KINGSTON, Jamaica—Fresh from winning her first medal at the senior level, Ackelia Smith has set her sights on a second after she qualified for the final of the women’s long jump event at the 23rd Commonwealth Games at Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow, Scotland on Friday.
Smith, who won the silver medal in the women’s triple jump on Thursday, jumped 6.58m (1.3m/s) in Group B of Friday’s qualifying, the sixth best mark of the day.
Nia Robinson, a finalist at the World Indoor Championships in March, registered three fouls in Group A.
