Minister in the Ministry of Housing Anil Roberts says the witness statement of former acting Police Commissioner McDonald Jacob raises serious questions about the circumstances surrounding Brent Thomas being brought back to Trinidad.
In a post on his social media pages yesterday, Roberts read extensively from the witness statement, asserting that its contents contradicted the public narrative previously advanced by senior police officials and members of the then People’s National Movement administration. He suggested that the discrepancies warranted further scrutiny and possibly a Commission of Inquiry.
Roberts focused on portions of the statement in which Jacob recounted being contacted on October 2, 2022, by Senior Superintendent Suzette Martin, who informed him that Brent Thomas—described as a firearms dealer under investigation—had plans to flee the jurisdiction.
