A man iden­ti­fied on­ly as “Jay” was shot and killed dur­ing a sus­pect­ed rob­bery in Arou­ca ear­ly this morn­ing.

Po­lice said the in­ci­dent hap­pened around 12:30 am on Sun­set Dri­ve, off First Street, Five Rivers. Of­fi­cers on pa­trol along the Pri­or­i­ty Bus Route were alert­ed by a man who re­port­ed the shoot­ing and took them to the scene.

There, they found Jay ly­ing face down in a pool of blood near house num­ber 87. He had gun­shot wounds to the head and ab­domen.
