GPL targets June 2027 for full 300MW GtE power on national grid

The Guyana Power and Light Inc (GPL) is expecting power generation from the highly anticipated Gas-to-Energy (GtE) Project by mid-June 2027, as the utility company continues preparations to integrate an additional 300 megawatts (MW) of electricity into the national grid.

Over the past few years, GPL has been investing heavily in upgrading existing infrastructure and installing new infrastructure in preparation for the operationalisation of the GtE Project, which is slated to deliver some 300 MW of electricity to the national grid.

During a recent press briefing on Monday, GPL Chief Executive Officer Kesh Nandlall announced, in response to questions from reporters, that the company expects to commence full power generation under the Gas-to-Energy Project by mid-June 2027.
