CHRISTINE Hudson, chairperson of Professional Women’s Football Jamaica Limited (PWFJL), said the excitement and expectation are palpable as the Jamaica Women’s Premier League (JWPL) semi-finals kick off on Saturday with an exciting double-header at the JFF/Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence, UWI.
In the curtain-raiser, Arnett Gardens will take on Los Perfectos at 3:00 pm before defending champions Frazsiers Whip tackle Real Mona at 6:00 pm in a David vs Goliath showdown that is sure to get hearts pounding. The second legs will be played at the same venue on May 23 with the final set for Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex on May 30.
This is the second staging of the revamped JWPL as the stakeholders continue to develop the game locally, and Hudson noted that, this year, tweaks to the format of the competition have added intrigue.
