TODAY US Navy doctors from the hospital ship USNS Comfort will begin giving free medical care to the public at the National Academy for the Performing Arts in Port of Spain.
The US Navy Mercy-class hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH 20) arrived in Trinidad on Tuesday with approximately 800 navy medical professionals prepared to serve citizens of T&T. The medical mission will be operating today to Saturday and the vessel will depart on Monday.
Lieutenant Commander George Menninger led a media tour of the floating hospital yesterday at the Cruise Ship Complex on Dock Road in Port of Spain, and said it has the capacity to house almost 1,000 patients.
