KINGSTON, JamaicaâThe Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) is joining the media fraternity, the wider Jamaican public, and members of the Jamaican Diaspora in mourning the passing of veteran broadcaster and journalist Dervan Malcolm, who died on Thursday following a period of illness.
PAJ President Dashan Hendricks said Malcolmâs passing represents a significant loss to Jamaican journalism.
âDervan represented the very best of Jamaican broadcasting and journalism. He understood that journalism is not simply about reporting what is happening; it is about helping people understand the issues that shape their lives. His work with the Diaspora is particularly noteworthy,â Hendricks said. âWe will remember Dervan for his professionalism, warmth and commitment to public service, all of which earned him the respect of colleagues and audiences alike.â
