Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says that injuries her husband Gregory Bissessar sustained in a car accident during last year’s election campaign have left him with difficulty walking and kept him away from public functions.
Addressing a gathering at the 29th annual Divali celebrations at her constituency office in Penal on Saturday night, Persad-Bissessar explained his absence and thanked him for his unwavering love and support throughout her political journey.
The prime minister publicly shared details about the accident and his ongoing recovery during the address, expressing appreciation for his resilience, stating that his “great spirit and immense brainpower remain strong” despite the lingering physical challenges.
