The Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS) has is­sued a warn­ing to mem­bers of the pub­lic about the ex­is­tence of a fraud­u­lent doc­u­ment, cur­rent­ly be­ing cir­cu­lat­ed via email, false­ly claim­ing to orig­i­nate from the Cy­ber and So­cial Me­dia Unit (CSMU) of the TTPS and the Trinidad and To­ba­go Cy­ber­se­cu­ri­ty In­ci­dent Re­sponse Team (TT-CSIRT).

The doc­u­ment, de­signed to ap­pear le­git­i­mate, bears the of­fi­cial TTPS and TT-CSIRT lo­gos, fraud­u­lent re­pro­duc­tions of the of­fi­cial TTPS and TT-CSIRT stamps, as well as fraud­u­lent sig­na­tures, pur­port­ed­ly from the Deputy Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice and the Man­ag­er of TT-CSIRT.

The let­ter in ques­tion, false­ly ac­cus­es re­cip­i­ents of crim­i­nal ac­tiv­i­ty and threat­ens im­me­di­ate le­gal ac­tion, at­tempt­ing to elic­it a re­sponse un­der pres­sure.
