The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has issued a warning to members of the public about the existence of a fraudulent document, currently being circulated via email, falsely claiming to originate from the Cyber and Social Media Unit (CSMU) of the TTPS and the Trinidad and Tobago Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (TT-CSIRT).
The document, designed to appear legitimate, bears the official TTPS and TT-CSIRT logos, fraudulent reproductions of the official TTPS and TT-CSIRT stamps, as well as fraudulent signatures, purportedly from the Deputy Commissioner of Police and the Manager of TT-CSIRT.
The letter in question, falsely accuses recipients of criminal activity and threatens immediate legal action, attempting to elicit a response under pressure.
