The National Council of Indian Culture (NCIC) has extended an invitation to Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to attend the final night of the nine-night Divali Nagar celebration, which begins on Friday.
This, as the NCIC yesterday dismissed allegations that its board of directors had accused the Kamla Persad-Bissessar-led Government of victimising the NCIC by withholding funding for the country’s flagship Divali celebration.
In a release yesterday, the NCIC stated that through the resignation of former appointed director Dr Shane Mohammed it had become aware of a narrative in the public domain which had “no basis” and was never expressed by the NCIC.
